RJ’s  Daily Blog  9.4.10  “Man What a Night of Racing”

And this morning I got a great laugh from another race fan, electronic wiz, race driver, racing? Well to be sure I don’t know exactly what Dave Dusick Does but I thought this was funny and fitting. I resemble that remark. LOL.. Dave Dusick: found my mate: we're at the US Nationals & she's more excited than me. You've gotta love a girl who thinks something that lasts less than five seconds is awesome!!!

Ok now to the day and evening. I did my normal days work and met the family of Austin Phelps, Kart Racer, Eleanor “L” Phelps, Sister Annett Hall and Brother X Alcohol Fuel Drag Racer who by the way has definitely had a very bad day in the office you might say before he retired from racing. Show’s the proof as well.

So I got to the track and called “L” To look them up and she asked where I was and I said on the road course. The response was What road Course. So, the only reason I bring that up is the diverse racing history of ORP in the “Drag Strip“, “The Oval” and also “The Road Course”. I guess I was on the little guy side of the racing action. Although I could have spent the whole day on that side myself looking at and learning all the divisions of “Drag Racing” I went over the track in the Tunnel and met the family in the Funny Car and Top Fuel area of the pits.  I then saw what a drag racing family was like. I mean a true fan of drags. I mean a vocal and aggressive fan of drag racing. One of thousands in the pits getting up close and reacquainting themselves with the drivers.

I on the other hand I myself have always been looking for the up and coming racers who are trying their best to make their way to the top in racing. I don’t want to call them the underdogs although they are, I’m more or less trying to find the racer in smaller divisions and watching the progression (if they don’t have a bad day in the office) Refer to above statement.

Now I’ve been around racing all my life and walked around the tracks in 14 states to date. However my legs have never ever been this sore from any of those races put together. Man this girl could walk and walk and run and run carrying a back pack of drinks and such? No this back pack was full of autograph cards and pictures of a 25 year history of drag racing. “ORP Nationals” I lost count of the pictures she got signed and of the pictures I took of Austin, Her and Pete. For some reason I missed sis. Maybe she was just takin it all in like me.

I did also notice something as I was coming into the Funny Car area and that was a table next to a Top Fuel car by the name of  T. J. Zizzo. It was 4 baskets of colored sharpies. I found that interesting and later that day I found out why they were there. T.J. and Peak “The Sponsor” used this as a way for the Kids to put their names on the dragster.  Now Austin was one of the kids and all of them had their names announced when he made his 6’th place run of the evening. Now I guess if you knew me well I think you would already know who I want to see win the nationals. Why? Because he successfully set the hook so to speak with every single kid that signed that car for the rest of their lives to him and drag racing as a sport of choice.  Now as usual my choice of oil this month is Peak. And my antifreeze is Peak and whatever else they sell for my car and van. Job Well done T.J. And oh by the way did I mention Austin Races Karts with his dad Kurt as the wrench. Ya know a second generation racer?  I think I did?

See Ya..

Oh and Pete I did want to stay and watch your guys race but man I was a worn out puppy.

And Eleanor said man I wish I could come back another day no all three. We as most fans of the day paid out way. And I for one am proud to be a part.

RJ’s Daily Blog 9.3.10  “I know What I need to do”

Wow! I don’t think I want ro wait till next week to get my tickets for the World Figure 8 races at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Now with that said I still need to buy my ticket for tomorrows Drags at  ORP and I also have to buy the tickets for the races at Winchester this weekend.

However with that said when I see entrants from New York, California, and Florida along with all the normal great racers in the Indianapolis and Kentucky Area.??? Man oh man what a cool event it should be for sure. So as you remember I did my etching in stone and I for sure and I will be at the Speedrome. Now with that said I think I might run to Eldora and catch some action on Friday as Well. I almost like the qualifying races better then the main event their anyway. Sometimes. LOL

Gotta do what ya gotta do. Is it now a great country we live in with the opportunities to do what we want when we want if we have the guts to tough it out. I find my life with small successes now at this stage. One more dollar today than I had yesterday and 20 more drivers and Fans of racing that know of “The NEW Trackside Review Magazine LLC” in the spring of 2011.

And no I’m not ready to start selling any yet. I’ll keep ya posted. I need $25,000 in the bank before I even start it. I’m 10% closer toward that goal.

See Ya.
